How to increase sales by making your website more credible

Your website’s overall credibility plays an important role in helping visitors determine whether or not they want to continue browsing or if they’re going to leave to check out the competition.

Let’s take a look at what goes into building a credible website.


Think of your website like an actual storefront. If you’re walking in to a store for the first time you would probably feel more comfortable in a space that’s brightly lit, clean and easy to navigate opposed to something dark, cluttered and unkempt. The more at ease you feel the more likely you are to stay a little longer. Any feeling of uneasiness or frustration will probably lead you to turn around and walk right out the door.

People are drawn to aesthetically pleasing things. Studies show that 70 per cent of people won’t trust a website based solely on how it looks. If your website looks dated or unprofessional it will negatively impact your credibility. That being said, it’s definitely worth it to invest in professional website design.

Up to Date Content

Publishing new content regularly not only keeps Google happy, it shows people that you’re relevant and that helps to establish trust. A website that’s full of past promotions and events or a blog that hasn’t seen any new content in years is going to raise some red flags. It may even lead people to believe that you’re no longer in business.

Avoid making a bad first impression by publishing new content regularly and ensuring that your content is free from spelling and grammar mistakes and broken links.

Social Proof

You don’t need to have thousands of followers but you do need to have a presence on social media. When researching a new business, it is becoming increasingly more common for potential customers to turn to social media to help them make a decision. Choose at least one social media platform based on who your target market is and take the time to set up your profile and start posting regularly.

Make your social media profiles easy to access by prominently displaying links in the header, footer and contact page of your site.


Online privacy has become a major concern and rightfully so. As more and more data breaches are making headlines people are becoming less and less comfortable sharing their personal information online.

As of October 2017, if you visit a website that does not use HTTPS Google will display a security notice to warn you about submitting any personal information through the website.

HTTPS means that the information that you send from your browser to a website is encrypted and therefore no one can steal it.

If the visitors to your website don’t feel safe it’s unlikely that they’re going to have any confidence in your business.


Most people expect a website to load in 2 seconds or less. Let’s face it; nobody likes to wait especially when there are so many other options in the search results just waiting to be clicked!

A site that loads quickly will not only help to increase a visitor’s confidence in your site but it will also help you to rank higher in search results as Google favors sites that load faster because they provide a better experience for the user.

Share your location

A legitimate business has a physical location and a telephone. Even if you think it’s irrelevant, always display your location and phone number prominently on your website, it will give you credibility. If this information is hard to find or doesn’t exist at all you’re going to send a message to your potential customers that you do not want to be contacted which can make people feel uneasy.

Reviews and Testimonials

The impact a review or testimonial has on a consumer’s decision making process is undeniable. You believe in your business but that’s not always enough to convince a potential customer to believe in you too.

Consider reviews to be like word-of-mouth recommendations. 88% of consumers trust reviews online as much as a personal recommendation. They are incredibly persuasive and quite possibly one of the most effective ways to boost your credibility.

Reviews will help to build your reputation in ways that a website simply cannot do on its own. Not only will they ultimately help increase sales, they will also provide you with valuable insights about your customers which you can use to grow your business.

Not only will your potential customers appreciate the vote of confidence, Google will respond favorably as well. Positive reviews give your site more authority which can improve your ranking.

WSI has Launched a New Website for Tower Arctic

The online team at WSI Montreal is thrilled to announce the launch of a stunning new website for Tower Arctic, a company with over 72 years of experience in Arctic construction.

WSI has proudly worked with a number of clients in the Arctic regions of Nunavut and Nunavik and northern Cree communities of Quebec, which has allowed us to gain a good understanding of the challenges of those regions and the extraordinary landscape of the north.

Tower Arctic specializes in heavy civil and building construction projects in Canada’s Arctic region of Nunavut.  They are recognized as having exceptionally specialized expertise working with the environmental challenges of the Arctic such as permafrost, extreme low temperature and high winds.

Our client recognized the importance of establishing an online presence in order to increase visibility for their company and the services that they offer and to help them recruit new employees.

Tower Arctic’s new website not only showcases the outstanding beauty of the Arctic landscape but it also illustrates the huge scale of their construction and civil works projects.

Key Services

It was important that Tower Arctic’s new website clearly detail the highly specialized services that they offer. Namely: general contracting, water and sanitary distribution services and marine construction.

These three main areas of focus are displayed prominently on the homepage within eye-catching call out boxes that includes and image, icon, brief description and a ‘learn more’ call-to-action that leads to a separate page dedicated to each service.

Natural Beauty of the Arctic

Our client provided us with images of their equipment, crews and projects all set against the absolutely breathtaking backdrop of the Arctic. We displayed these striking images prominently in the header of each page. Not only do they enhance the site’s overall visual appeal, they give visitors to the site a clear understanding of the breadth of the work that is carried out by Tower Arctic and the amount of heavy equipment that they own.

Employment Opportunities

One of Tower Arctic’s challenges prior to having a website was effectively recruiting new employees. The addition of an employment page solved this problem. As an easy to access item in the site’s main navigation, the employment page lists the typical employment opportunities that they offer and has an easy to use form than an applicant can simply fill out, attach a CV and then submit.

Announcing the launch of a Newly Redesigned Website for Pneus Gordons

The team at WSI Montreal is proud to announce the launch of a newly redesigned website for Pneus Gordons a Montreal based mechanic and tire shop that has been in operation from the same location for over 60 years.

Pneus Gordons has been a client for many years but it was time to give the site a fresh new look and some enhanced functionality so it can continue to provide the best possible service to its customers.

We would like to thank Gordons for giving us the opportunity to work with them again. We are very grateful for the continued trust that they have placed in our firm.

New Online Tire and Wheel Catalogues

Tire prices have become very competitive over the years and now consumers are shopping around and comparing prices online. Gordons now offers an online tire catalogue for visitors to compare their prices vs. competitor’s sites which will show them that Gordons offers extremely competitive rates for new tires. They also offer a full selection of specialized wheels to add a customized look to the vehicle.

Content Creation

Since this project was a redesign we had a lot of existing content to work with but we wanted to dive in a little deeper so we wrote additional quality content to further explain the additional car maintenance services that are offered at Gordons such as steering and suspension, tune ups and oil changes. Not only is this content useful and informative for visitors to the site, it is also critical in helping Gordons rank in Google. We used SEO best practices when writing this new content and optimized the text to ensure that we grab Google’s attention.

Ongoing SEO, Local Optimization and Support

Now that the site is live we will provide Gordons with ongoing support and WordPress system updates that are needed to maintain the integrity of the site and to minimize the possibility of any security risks.

We will also continue to help them to grow their business by providing ongoing SEO and local SEO. Writing good content is a good start but it’s just one piece of the SEO puzzle. Our ongoing services will help Gordons to continue to rank high both globally and locally.

Announcing the Launch of a new Ecommerce website for OSD Care

As one of the leading providers of eye care products, I-Med recognized that they needed to update their existing OSD Care website to deliver a better online shopping experience for their clients. The new OSD Care website will support I-Med Pharma’s primary website which will be launched in the New Year.

Our team at WSI Montreal used the ecommerce platform Shopify to create a new online store for OSD Care. Shopify is a powerful yet very user friendly cloud based software that gives you all of the features that you need to successfully launch and manage an online store.

The new OSD Care website incorporates I-Med’s newly redesign logo and custom graphics that complement their branding and showcase their innovative products.
